-
To introduce the commonly used exercise tests for assessing people with cardiopulmonary diseases.
-
To discuss the practicability and feasibility of conducting these tests and the modifications applied.
-
To discuss key issues when designing and progressing training.
Exercise testing plays a crucial role in the assessment and management of individuals with cardiopulmonary diseases. These tests provide valuable insights into an individual’s exercise capacity, cardiopulmonary function, and response to various interventions. However, the practical application of exercise testing in real-world clinical settings can be challenging, with considerations around resource requirements, feasibility, and the need for protocol adaptations.
The clinical seminar will provide a comprehensive overview of the role and practical application of exercise testing for individuals with cardiopulmonary diseases. The session will be led by a panel of experienced clinicians and researchers, who will discuss the various exercise tests commonly used in the assessment and management of these patient populations. The key content will include:
- Introduction to exercise testing for people with cardiopulmonary diseases
- Practicability and feasibility of exercise testing – practical considerations and challenges associated with conducting exercise tests in real-world clinical settings – case sharing
- Using exercise testing results to design and progress training programs of patients with heart diseases – case sharing
Throughout the seminar, participants will be engaged in interactive discussions and will be asked thought-provoking questions in order to foster a dynamic exchange of knowledge and experiences. The attendees will be able to have a deeper understanding of the clinical applications and practical considerations of exercise testing in the management of cardiopulmonary diseases upon attending the seminar.
